Space is a big place.
A little too-big sometimes
If you are
young and at the beginning and have a long way to go.

Saw this today at Cup of Jo about the poor, disappearing seals in San Fran. Oh no! They were a highlight of my trip in 2008, and I hope they come back. Or at least that their departure isn't indicative of a coming natural disaster...

Shoes and Streets, Sniffles and Students.

I am probably a bit too excited about my most recent purchase... new Keens! On Sale! Their called the "Erin Ballerina" shoe and their color is called Firebrick! My poor feet have forgotten about the hours of walking a normal day in downtown Charleston requires. Oof. Time for memory foam and a recycled footbed! Plus, living on a tight, student-loan-driven budget makes all purchases exciting including gallons of milk and cold medicine.

Additionally, I have a cold. Doesn't that entitle me to a fun online purchase? I thought so.

In other news I began graduate school today. Growing up, my mother would take a picture of my brother and I on the first day of school. We'd stand next to the piano with the early morning sunshine beaming through the window onto our anxious, newly-scrubbed faces. I had this pink and yellow messenger bag with music notes on it that I LOVED. It was in the pictures from grades one through four.

Anyway, today I became a student again, with a notebook and desk and professor drama. No "first day" photo kicked off the day, and I may be 5 years older than the average person I pass on campus. But, I still have a really awesome messenger bag. So I consider it a success.

Library books and sustainability are HOT.

This woman at Attic Journals takes old about-to-be discarded library books and makes them into new hardback journals. What a fabulously sustainable idea!
